The 2024 Volkswagen Atlas proves that large family SUVs can be more than practical and efficient vehicles with little excitement. Add a little flavor to your next three-row SUV with the new Volkswagen Atlas, whether you're shopping for cargo versatility or you want innovative features that put you in control of your daily commute.
While it's easy for us to recommend the Volkswagen Atlas over other options, we know it isn't the only three-row SUV in its segment. Models like the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade are relatively new to their respective lineups and offer plenty of comforts and conveniences that might be hard to miss. Here at Ciocca Volkswagen of Allentown, we want you to have the right details to make an informed decision. Below, you can find our comparison of the newly refreshed Volkswagen Atlas and see how the exciting new features put it above and beyond its Kia and Hyundai rivals. We encourage you to explore the new and improved Atlas and why we think you'll prefer it over its competition!

Compare the VW Atlas to the Kia Telluride
Both lineups are relatively similar in starting price, making it challenging to find the one that gives you the best value. With the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas, you'll get upgraded standard features like a 12-inch touchscreen, App-Connect, two front USB-C ports, and the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity are included with the lineup as well, allowing you to avoid unnecessary cables throughout your interior. While the Kia Telluride offers plenty of exciting features, including a touchscreen with smartphone integration, you won't have the wireless capability included with the Volkswagen Atlas - that feature isn't included in the Kia Telluride.
Not only is it important to find the model with the right features, but you'll also want to make sure there's room enough inside for all your travels. The Volkswagen Atlas can seat up to seven passengers, offering 154 cubic feet of passenger volume. With the Kia Telluride, you'll get plenty of passenger space, comfortably seating up to eight passengers with 157 cubic feet of total passenger volume. However, cargo capacity tells a different story. The Volkswagen Atlas has 55.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, with a max total space of up to 96.8 cubic feet when the second row is folded out of the way. The Kia Telluride will require you to leave a bit more behind, only offering 46 cubic feet behind the second row and 87 cubic feet behind the first row.
Compare the VW Atlas to the Hyundai Palisade
When you glance under the hood of either model, you'll find plenty of power. The new Volkswagen Atlas now offers a single engine option, which is all you need. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder 269-horsepower engine and 273 pound-feet of torque is the standard engine, good enough to handle towing up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. With the Hyundai Palisade, you'll enjoy plenty of power, thanks to a larger 3.8-liter V6 that delivers 291 horsepower. The Palisade has a stronger engine, but the Volkswagen SUV's turbocharged four-cylinder has better fuel efficiency! With the Atlas, you'll get 20 mpg as you cruise through the city and 27 mpg at highway speeds, which is very good for a vehicle this size.
The Volkswagen Atlas is home to many intuitive features designed to make your drive more convenient. Inside the lineup, you'll find the Volkswagen Car-Net®, a mobile app that helps you monitor your vehicle and note upcoming maintenance needs from the convenience of your smartphone device. You'll also have access to IQ.DRIVE, an advanced Driver Assistance Technology package that features a semi-autonomous setting that helps you navigate the roads confidently. While the Palisade won't lack exciting features, the lineup won't have the seamless connectivity the new Atlas offers.
